Great story about some friends of mine who had to make a string whilst on a hunting trip. The story is quite long - with pics - so I decided to leave it where it is - just with a link. Hope that's OK with the administrators.

Good story.  I always carry a spare string in the field. It's been shot in, has the nock point installed and cat whiskers, just like I want it to be when I shoot.  Then back at camp I have a third spare set up the same way.

I always carry a slightly used string.  Already stretched and the nock point is at the right height.

Am sure looking foreward to seeing a bit of SA from behind the longbow in the next few weeks.

Porquipines are peacefull creatures, but God still saw fit to give them quills.

I always put the string that I just took off the bow for the annual string change into my survival kit/ hunting pack for my backup string.
