Posted about this on other site, but wanted to share on here as well. Posted about this bow I bought on big site.  This is my first Real project. Was tired of seeing this bow sit Around. About a month or so ago I bought a 56" 1957 Kodiak that was 50# @26" The bow was cut in half. I asked many people what they would do to put it together again. I got many answers and one quote which I couldn't afford. So what I decided to do was take a Ben Pearson 304 fiberglass takedown, and use the handle. The bow now measures 54" even. It's started at 52.5" So I gained a bit of AMO. It's was a fun project that I may have to tweak. I have yet to string the bow up, but it's now my 57 Takedown. Thanks George for placing the bug in my ear about the bow.

Aha! - so that's what's under all those leather handles!

Now all you have to do is glue the Ben Pearson 304 back together!

Shane Reed

Yeah kinda neat to find that under the wrap. Guessing R222 was the serial

I have some finishing. Wood shim needed in handle to make top limb not rock, and some smooth on. That will cure as i have a string made.

Shane Reed

Tossing limbs of 304 unless anybody wants them.

Shane Reed

Well here it is! The moment I have been waiting for. I placed brownels acraglas in upper section of handle to hold limb in place. Strung the bow up, held my breath and shot it. This may be the first official 57 Kodiak Takedown. Not the most beautiful in the world, but she works, and is my first major project/ bow save.

Shane Reed

Was just thinking, it may be the only 58" AMO 57 Kodiak lol

Shane, good job!  Are you planning to hunt with it this fall?  Would be neat to get a deer with a "one of a kind" bow!

Shane Reed

Tom, If all goes well; I will be hunting with this bow. I have to get over being a bit gun shy of it first. Have a little fear of the bow right now. I am going to have to put quite a few shots through it to trust.

TonyW

Always trust a Fred Bearson Ben-Kodiak!
