Browning Fury I

Can anyone tell me who manufactured the Browning Fury I? Where can I find specs for this bow? This is 54"AMO, 51#@28".

Going out on a limb here but I'm guessing the manufacturer is...

Browning.

Specs would be...
54 inch AMO and pulls 51 pounds at a 28# draw.

OK I'm only half being sarcastic. Actually I'm confused - you answered your own questions.

Well if I could see a pic,I may be able to ID if it were built by Wing or Damon Howatt.Being its 54" sure sounds kind of like a 54" Howatt Hi-Speed style maybe.bowdoc

I meant specs like proper brace height, years of manufacture. Things like that. I highly doubt Browning buit it, Brownings guns were not even made by Browning. Remington, Winchester, Colt, FN Herstal, Miroku, and numerous other companies actually built the guns bearing the namesake.

This bow has about a 4" sight window, brown glass front and back. There are tip overlays of white/brown/white and the same on the riser.

No, you aren't a dumba$$. Perhaps a wisea$$, but if it were I in your shoes I would have replied in a similar manner.

The bow appears very similar to a Pearson PB-H52 with the overlays, so I assume they made them for Browning.

Carter, I have a Browning Fury 2 which is 60"AMO that has brown glass, the Fury 2s were sixty inchs. The riser is shaped very similar to the Bear hunters and has beautiful riser wood. I braced mine at 7 1/2" to 8" and its really quick at 59 lbs.Its serial # starts with a 2 maybe thats the means 1972 not sure. Most of the browning I ever shot seemed quicker than the Bear bows. This bow is for sale in the classifieds now.

Most Fury II's were 62". I have two of them and a Fury I.

As far as I know, and I stand to be corrected, Browning did build their own bow line. I know Harry Drake ended up going with them as the head designer.

The more I look at it the more it does look like a Kodiak Hunter, a few different Wing models, and that Ben Pearson,....sorta like they all came off the same assembly line. From the pics of the Kodiaks I found on the internet it really looks most like a Bear product built to Browning specs.

the Browning Fury series laid next to Kodiaks, Wings, Pearsons and others will show disctince differences in design.

They do have a common design in the "horns" or integral stabelizers as they were called, but you see this design in many manufactorers with different models.

Back in the day...'60's...many of us would not even consider buying a bow that was made by a firearms manufacturew..ie. Browning, Colt, etc...

Boy, were we wrong. as it turns out, thes manufacturers made some of the finest, best performing recurves out there.

Go figure...

I also have a Browning Fury I 50lbs @28" it is also 54" amo serial number4c945-1 what year is it ... has black glass and rosewood and maple riser I have had this bow for years it shoots well and has stablizer bushing and inserts in limbs for quiver .. (whats it worth)?

Serial # on mine seems to be 3C136-1. The first digit has a scratch across it but I think it's a 3? Mine has brown glass front and back, riser might be rosewood but I'm not positive. It isn't in great shape but it's straight and shoots well. After doing more research it does look very similar to a bunch of other bows, perhaps Browning just copied the trend at the time?

Hey Papalapin, could you double check your Fury II for length. I understood they were 60" bows. The Explorer II is 62".

I stand corrected. It was my Explorer II's that are 62". Fury II is 60".

Hey Al33, that is a nice bow, wronghanded like me too. I have a 60" Safari II which is 60". I wonder how similar they are. Mine has wide limbs.
Mine is an earlier model than yours. And darker riser.

Hey Papalapin, you had me wondering. I am a 62" junkie and a Browning junkie too. If they made a 62" Fury, I was ready to kick myself in the arse for not knowing about it. LOL
