Hey doc,
One big tip off is in all photos I have seen of him he cocks his hats to the left.  His hat is cocked to the right in photo.

I cock all hats to the right but I'm right handed.  Go figure.

Yes, Fred was right handed in his earlier years but had to switch to left after an accident.  He had accidentally poked his fingers with the pod resulting in the numbing of the fingers on the right hand.

OK..OK...that's a bunch of B.S.

But I do seem to remember Fred switching to lefty because of target panic.  That must have been before clickers.

Nope he was left handed because his sister cut the ring finger off his right hand while chopping fire wood when they were kidds...I also have the fur and game with Fred shooting right handed on the cover. There are several different pics of him shooting righthand.Printer used the negitives down side up...pretty funny bowdoc

What's the publishing date on that book?  I used to have one when I was a kid.  At least I think I was a kid.

According to Kroll's autobiography and other sources Fred'd finger was cut off by his sister when he was twelve as they were chopping fodder for the cows and draft horses on the farm in Pa.with a chopper his father Harry had made.  Grant

There is also a photo  of Fred with a site taped to his bow. Just can't remember where I saw it.

Taking a look at that top photo it sure looks like he has both ring fingers?

Jon Stewart

The great finger debate. I have an add that shows he has all his fingers on both hands?

Ring finger right hand first knucle it was a little to short to grip the bow string. He wrote righthanded, but shot left...bd

Fur-Fish-Game - October 1951 is the issue with the negative reversed.  I have a couple copies somewhere among all the clutter about me.

"The Conservationist," a magazine put out by the New York Conservation Commission has a painting of an archer on the cover of the October-November 1959 issue.  They don't say it's old Fred, but hey, it's a lefty with a hat and what looks to be one of his bows and what appears to one of those Bear sheath knives on his belt.   :)   One just came up on the big auction site...for those who may have an interest in picking up a copy.
