Hello

Bear archery states in it's literature that the 1957 60 inch kodiak has a 25 thru 28 inch draw length. Is it really bad for the bow if it's drawn up to 29 inches? I am waiting on a 41# 60 inch '57 Kodiak and wonder if I've bought the wrong bow for my draw... I just recently graduated from 28'' to 29'' draw. If 29'' is too much, I guess I could go back to 28'' on this one? I am afraid that doing this will affect my form.  Anybody out there have the same problem?

Simon, I don't think you have anything to worry about with the extra inch. What you may notice is some stacking or greater increase for that last inch but it shouldn't stress the bow beyond what it can handle. I'd caution you to remember that the bow is fifty-two years old or will be soon and could fail anytime. Not that it will but it could, even with a 26" draw. My primary bows are mostly sixties models so that's always in the back of my mind, lol. I don't think you should have to shorten your draw for the bows sake. Maybe if you drew 31". Good luck, enjoy your new classic and post a picture.   Grant

Your bow should handle a 29 inch draw no worries, the biggest problem I have had with the '57s is limb twist. They have those big long sweeping curves in the limbs. Fast bows for sure. Good luck
I was born with nothing and I still have most of it left.

The '57 Kodiak is on my list. If it doesn't work for, give me a shot at buying it from you. If anybody else out there has a 57 they are parting with, let me know.

Thanks guys. Yep, the age of my bows are always on my mind too. Most of my bows are 35 years and older. 1957 is my oldest one though. I'v got a 1957, 58, 62, 66, 68, 71 or 72, 78 and my youngest might be 85ish.

I have a 31" draw, and the '57 Kodiak is one of the few 60" bows I can draw comfortably at my draw.
