I've been watching everybody put up pics of their bows not only in their collection, but also ones they just purchased. I'm not a collector (althought I've had a few nice Bears at one time or another. This one, however, has stayed with me for more years than I care to remember. What do y'all think? Original shelf is long since gone away and has been replaced with some seal skin. Still a good shooter.

that's a 1958 Kodiak Special, hard to find in the 62 and 70 inch lengths.

Hey Simon, I have heard of bows being called "classy" amd usually know what that means...but I have never heard a bow described as "sober".  

That must be Canadian thing, eh?

Might be more Québécois than Canadian.  

What I meant by sober is the antonymous of flashy.

WOW, love that dark Ibeam wood.  Saw one similar on the auction site, and missed out on it.

Does anyone know who might have one of the "D" side plates and a rest? I'm really tired of looking at that seal skin.   :D

that is rosewood in the center of the I-beam. nice bow in what looks to be very good condition.

I've had this bow since 1960. I was a sophomore in HS. Got it from a friend of my dad's that had just transferred down to Texas from Michigan to work in the GM Plant in Arlington. He had another Kodiak and sold me this one for the outrageous price of $25.

they are a great looking bow and with the rosewood sight window was the prelude to the I-beam laminations found in the 1959 Kodiak risers. . The earliest '59 K's had this same rosewood, then they used maple for the center piece, then went to the purpleheart which is what you see the most of.

that picture is 4 of the 5 AMO lengths that Bear made that year. Top to bottom 62, 64, 66, and 68 inches, still looking for a 70 incher to complete the collection. 3-4 come up for auction every year, good luck!
