Holy Grail of Ben Pearson Bows

My very first production bow was a bottom-of-the- line Ben Pearson Hunter model...used, of course.  I could not afford the Bear Kodiak, but that old Ben Pearson served me well.

Now my question for you arm chair experts...if I were to seek out the Holy Grail of Pearson bows, what would it be?  I do not mean the rarest or one of a kind version, but which bow best exemplifies the Ben Pearson line?

My brand new one might come close to that description. I unboxed it a little while ago, so pictures will have to wait.
     

The box and some of the paperwork have some water damage, but the bow is new. I don't think it's even been strung- YET! All hang tags, instructions and advertisements included. It's a 68" 25 @28, in all it's multi-laminated glory. Pictures tomorrow kids! CKruse

Here's an interesting bit of history:

"Three new bows were developed: the Cougar, Javelina and Safari. The Cougar was the least expensive bow in the line, the Javelina was a middle priced bow and the Safari was the top of the line. Later that year a bow was added. It had long working limbs, instead of the semi-recurved limbs of earlier bows. The limbs were wide to resist twisting, yet still have cast. The window was high, six and 3/4 inches.. The machines that made the bow could work wood within 1/1000 of an inch. Thus the ad "Perfection by Pearson" The Palomino" was born. The success of the bow causes the factory to be six weeks behind on orders for the Palomino."

Some of those Pearson target bows were dandys. I liked some of the wild laminations on some of the Palominos were nice. Even the Colt had a beefy riser and were real stable shooters.

Was the Pinto of that time period just a lesser quality model than your Palamino?  Maybe like a Bear Grizzly compared to the Kodiak?

That bow has class! Cant belive it's still a virgin! But I guess, your/a bowner will help her out of that misery ...!?

Can you post a close up from the "bumper stringer" paper? Never seen or heard of it before. Sounds pretty neat

Here you go Falk. It's amazing that even "back in the day" archery had it's share of gadgets and gizmo's! It's entertaining sometimes for me to page through the old catalogs and see things like the "Smok-Clip" for holding your cigarette, etc.   :rolleyes:  CKruse
