When did they make them and why are they not listed on Bear web sites?

They made them in the mid 70's. They are not listed in any Bear catalogs because they were made for K-mart and I believe coast-to-coast stores. Mostly modeled after K-mags. I thought they only came in 52" like the the K-mags, but a friend of mine had one that was 56". Bear did'nt really "claim" them for lack of a better term. The other strange thing about them is they were weighted with a 5 lb range. Like 40-45 lb or 45-50 lb. Bear also built one for Sears that was another anomoly, cant remember the exact name of that one right now it was something like "hawk". Similar to the Panther, but it was a strange duck too.
No hunter should feel guilty for killing a deer that doesnt meet someone else's expectations.

Sorry for hi-jacking this thread, but is this the same reason for I can't find the Bear Bruin recurvebow in any of the catalogs?

The 56inch model was the black panther the 52inch model was the black panther hunter. At one time I had both.

I think the made the Flicker for Sears.  Don't remember who they made the Bruin for.  Maybe Monkey Wards.

The most important part of your hunting setup is the broadhead.  The rest is just the delivery system.

I don't have a Bear Bruin, but I'd be willing to buy one.  Like I need another bow.  How long is your Bruin?

Thanks for your responses.
