I have purchased a Bear Kodiak Special and from what I can learn I believe it is a 58 or 59 model. It is in really great original shape with the orig. leather grip and does not look like it was shot much, it is 57#@29" and 64" long. Anyone got a ballpark figure on its value and will It hurt if I hunt with it? Cannot see puting a good bow on the wall and not shooting it.

If it has the leather grip than it is a 1958. If it shows no signs of delamination, or twisting, than go ahead and shoot it. It is a bow after all and meant to be shot. You will enjoy shooting it. With the 64" length it will be smooth on the draw. Th 1958  is the photo on the left, with the 1959 on the right.

Thanks Ron, any idea of the value, it has a leather grip so must be a 58, plus the pic of the 59 shows white or cream glass and this one has brown glass.

If it has the dark glass than it is a 1956. A very nice find. $200-$400?

I forgot.....right or left hand?

Ron,

It is right handed,57#@29" and 64" long. Looking at a few pics, the 57 and 58 have a dark sight window and a dark piece of wood below the handle at the fade. This one has the dark sight window, but does not have the lower dark piece of wood. Also it does have dark glass, so would that make it a 56? It is in perfect condition with only a few scratches on one of the tips.

Thanks,

Danny
