Well yesterday was quite the adventure! I worked till 1:30am the drove up 3 hrs north to put out my bait. Drove back home then went to work. I feel like a zombie today but it's all going to be worth it!

Here is my first crib:

This is my second crib. I plan on using a pop-up blind. I have a 15yd shot to it. the bear has to put it's head in the dead trunk to get goodies.

Here is where my pop up will be:

Thanks Tim!!! The anticipation is killing me!

It was a ton of work getting my baits in. The paths to my sites are way off the two tracks and I had to lug everything in with a deer cart. Plus, the deer flies were crazy!! I gained a ton of respect for the do-it-yourself bear hunters who don't have 4-wheelers to get their bait in. My Acheiva took a beating! LOL!

Looks good. I like the second site a 15 yd shot from the ground....
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside thoroughly used up, totally worn out, with bible in hand and loudly proclaim...WOW...What a Ride!!!

Looks great and best of luck Arwin...

I was never a four wheeler fan on till I went on a bear hunt in Canada last year. To put out baits without one ...your a good man and I hpoe you have great hunts this year. Best of luck.

Hey Bro looking good, those deer flies don't hold a candle to the black flies when you use to hunt bear in the spring.

I know your going to whack one!
For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people's sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation.

Black flies are nasty!!! Had a bad experience with them fishing for brook trout.
Hey, here are some pics of my bow I'm going to use. Tracey Balowski did some wonderful artwork on the riser. Good mojo!

I CANNOT WAIT EITHER!!!!!!!!! I was surprised by how far those logs were thrown off the bait. Couldn't have been too small a bear?

Ben, our season starts at the end of Sept and runs into October. The hunts are different according to what area and date you apply for.
I'm using some grease, meats, sweets and treats.  :bigsmyl:
No plastic barrels or wrappers of any sort can be left out when baiting. I like it this way, cover everything with logs. You can chase them with dogs if you wish but it's not my cup of tea. (no dog debates please, I don't wanna get off track here).  Look up  www.mi.gov/dnr

Arwin: my son and I just got back from northern Ontario (Temagami). Although we didn't take a bear (saw a cub and sow), six were shot (all compound hunters...we were the only trad shooters in camp. Biggest bear was an honest 400 lbs.
Lot's of black flies and mosquitoes...a Thermacell is a must!
The baits being hit hardest had the sweets...raspberry jam/sugar concoction, donuts, molasses.
They were coming in at any time of the day.
Good luck!
