on the deep hook do the fingers point back at you when curled around the string? seems this would create tension in the fingers and back of hand doing this?
aim small miss small

Mine do. I don't notice tension. Ive always shot with a deep hook never had release issues.

Mine do too....  I keep my wrist loose enough that as I pull back to anchor, my fingers 'pull' the string/arrow into the riser and all is good!

Good luck. shoot straight and God Bless,

That's the purpose of the deep hook. Rids the fingers, hand, wrist and forearm of the draw arm of all tension which allows for most effective use of the back muscles during the draw. Yes, the finger tips should point rearward.

That is a good video. It shows you exactly what your asking to see. Thanks for posting that. I shoot similar to him but I don't use a "double anchor" point. My hand doesn't leave my face

Not sure how you're doing the Deep hook but it's supposed to relieve stress in the hand it makes a 50 pound bow feel like a 40 pound bow

I have noticed this myself. I just switched to a deeper hook (fingers facing me while hooking on the string) and my bow suddenly feels much easier to draw and hold.

I think a good analogy of how this works is the same reason why before we punch something we ball up our fists.

The complete curling of the fingers until it is facing us creates a a much stronger "hand position" for lack of a better term.

i tend to shoot left with this hook, might take some time to get used to probably because arrow is to the right of my face more now with deep hook
aim small miss small
