what position is your thumb and pinkie when you draw your bow back? thumb touching pinkie?

crazynate

my pinky is tucked in and my thumb is also down below my jaw bone.

katman

In a relaxed but slightly contracted position. If I touch them together it adds tension to my hand, not good.

I keep my thumb up, but somewhat relaxed.  It touches my face right around the corner of my eye brow.  I use a pretty high anchor and my thumb interferes with my line of sight if I try to keep it down.

I put my thumb down on my pinky (on the nail). I push down my thumb just lays on it.

Thumb bent behind the jaw and below the ear, pinkie curled.

I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42

John Schulz (Howard Hill fame) states that you want the thumb holding the pinky down as it makes the hand rigid and thus a cleaner release.

Bears can attack people- although fewer people have been killed by bears than in all WWI and WWII combined.

I cover my pinky nail with the pad of my thumb when i set my hook during my shot cycle. Once i start drawing,  attention goes elsewhere. I'll still keep my thumb down to create a pocket which will hook my lower jaw at full draw.

my thumb lays against pointer finger but sligthly higher than my pointer finger. my pinky stays more or less in line with my other fingers with out touching the string. Not saying its right. Its just what feels comfortable to me.

Maybe I'm wierd, but there's no way I could possibly hold my pinkie down with my thumb and draw a bowstring.
We are all here because we are not all there.

If that's so, that be two of us. My old wire twisting, working hands that are getting some arthritis ain't gonna do that either.
My thumb is tucked inside my hand and my little finger floating out of the way.
If I try to touch my thumb to my little finger it puts a heck of a strain on the back of my hand and that cain't be good atall.

I know I'm weird, and I can't hold the pinkie with my thumb either. I keep my thumb relaxed.

Me either, my thumbs are a little too stiff for that these days. When I do force it, they pop apart when I release and I flick myself with my pinkie.  Ouchy on my little cheeky.  The other day at Caseys the kid had purple fingernail polish on his thumb and pink polish on his pinkie on just his right hand.  he had different colors on his left hand, i was wondering if he may have been a trad archer that read this thread and did that so he could tell which was which.

how much tension is applied to the string with the fingers? just enough so the fingers touch the string?
aim small miss small

katman

The heavier the bow the more tension. Try to keep it as relaxed as possible in the hand and forearm, just enough to hook the string. Makes getting off the string smoother.
shoot straight shoot often

can someone take an actual photo of the deep hook for me? it take me alot of effore for me to hook the fingertips back towards me
