What do you guys think of release aids for Trad bows.?  Are some better than others..?  Like the thumb ring. or ring release aid. I made one that straps around my wrist but have yet use it. Don't like the finger tab much, can't get a feel for the string and seem to have inconsistent release. Have not tried the glove yet. I shoot 2 under.

I shoot pretty much exclusively thumb ring, what do you want to know about it?

Are some better than others..?  It seems you like the thumb ring.

For one, I can't use a grip like you guys use, having crushed my hand in my youth.  However, I get cleaner release as well as better ability to draw heavy bows (not that I'm there yet) and it lets me pull some awesome tricks like holding two arrows in my draw hand while firing a third, and nocking them as fast as I get one off the string.  That's a required skill for horseback archery, and occasionally wheelchair archery is like horseback archery.

Do you use a hard or soft ring? From what I've heard the hard rings can be rather painful on the thumb joint.
Rudderbows selfbow,1959 Herters recurve, Toelke Whip, and just added a Hoyt ProVantage warf conversion to the mix.

Hard, or none.  Double serving helps if you're using none.  And generally if it hurts your thumb it's not fitting right.
