Has anyone here tried the Yellowstone Half-breed longbow? Three-piece longbows are intriguing me, and I like the looks of the bow on his web-site. Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have shot the half breed. A good friend of mine that I hunt with ordered one last year. I was able to play with it a lot at hunting camp in September. It was a very smooth bow. I like the grip as well. Rich's craftsmanship is excellent, its more art. The only complaint that I would have is that it was fairly slow in comparison to my pronghorn, but not so bad that I would say not get one. It is a great bow. I would say it is the best of what Rich has made.

Hey Gary.  Haven't shot the half-breed, but did own one of Rich'
s two-piece take down longbows.  Excellent proportions and craftsmanship.  The fella knows how to build a bow.  Good luck.

Thanks guys. I used to have a Pronghorn T/D, but couldn't get used to the straight grip. Other than that, I really liked it. For me, the grip has to be right, or I'm really inconsistant. I know you two like a straight grip. plus you're obviously better shots than I am! The longbow keeps calling me, even though I know I shoot recurves better. I envy people that can handle a longbow well. I'd love to be there someday, myself. So, who knows...  Randy and Jerry, thanks again.
By the way, Randy, my son got to Ft. Collins on Monday and is loving it. Let the job search begin.

I wish him luck in the job search.

The half breed does not have as straight of a grip as my pronghorns do. It was however about the same size. That made it very comfortable for me.

I imagine Rich would work with you on a grip   :readit:   . He makes great bows

This is an old thread, but I just gotta say that the Yellowstone half beed is a fantastic bow.
Probably the smoothest longbow I have ever shot.
