I never met Ron, but felt like I knew him.  We talked via telephone once or twice about his bows.

Roger, you should write that book. I bet it would be a great read !

Truly salt of the Earth.  I met Ron about 7 years ago at Kzoo.  So easy to speak with.  He asked me where I was from and what I did.  When I told him, he said that his Son was a lawyer in the building right across the street from where I worked.  I had just met him but he made it seem like we were old friends.  That was Ron - always finding a way to connect with people.  To him, we were all brothers of the bow.  Read his poem "Life of an Old Hunter".  As I get older, the words of this poem keep going through my mind.  I believe his spirit still roams the woods and when we are out there, we can commune with him.

Too funny Ray. Ron reminded me of a gangster I read about once. The guy would walk in and throw guys up against the wall and then ask questions.

However, that wasn't really him, it was just what I perceived of him. 

Again, I surely miss him. And those morning coffee remarks to me. Occasionally, in the early AM of trying to get daily agendas directed moved forward.. He was all in for traditional bohunting let me tell you.

He always appreciated you Terry. He was grateful for the TradGang. In his later years he was less mobile...communicating on this forum was very important to him.

I was working on my next TBM article and looking for some pictures.  Came across this photo of Ron and I cooking in the cabin of Shrewhaven.  I'm preparing a couple of apple pies (Ron's favorite) and Ron was preparing breakfast for the gang who were probably about to come in from the morning hunt (more than likely I shot a deer the night before and was taking the morning off).  Ron loved Shrewhaven and all the little nuances of it, including moments like this.  Like Roger said, there's very few days that go by that our Shrewhaven group text isn't influenced in some way by Ron.  Our lives were more than Shrewhaven and my daughters called him Uncle Ron (and his wife was Aunt Nancy).  When friends become family.......

Happy belated birthday Ron, I met Ron at Elm Hall in August a couple years before he passed, he had his beagle with him I believe he called him Ruger. My brother and I go by his grave on the way home when we leave Elm Hall. He is definitely missed.    Kurt

Like other lucky individuals here , I was fortunate to have had many conversations with Ron  .  Though many yrs seperated us in age , it was enlightening just how much we had in common in outdoor life and our experiences .

I miss him Greatly ... his Honesty-relentless contributions to Traditional archery/bowhunting and these forums .

Here's an early 2000 picture at the buck pole.  Roger Norris was new to the camp at this point (I believe it was his second year in camp).  Lobos Lair had not been constructed yet.  This was early in the time when we had our own cabin on the property.

A couple years back I decided to do a cartoon drawing of some of my old favorite archers. I contacted him to get his approval before making a few shirts.
He sent me a photo of him wearing his. Always enjoyed talking with him and mentioned he should put together a book of all his poems and stories.

Ron had excellent and expensive taste in all things hunting. Expensive as in hand made exquisite items. From moccasins to hats and everything in-between. I enjoyed talking knives with Ron at Elm Hall and always kept a sharp eye out when he was on his scooter at Compton  . I enjoyed talking to him as he was full of good stories and personality. It's a wonderful thing to have a deer camp tradition and hard when a good friend passes into legend, love to see the shrew Haven pictures.
