Why would switching tabs affect point of impact?

I've used the same tab "model" I guess from 1 manufacturer for several years. I decided to switch up and try a different model from another maker and my arrows are grouping the same but almost 10 inches left. Why? The tabs appear to be very close in size, although the material that contacts the string is different. Leather on old one, some sort of cloth on the new one. I can switch back and forth with this same result.

I don't want to name names because both are well made by small businessmen and I don't want to imply that one is better than the other.

Anything "different" will change things... It's probably something as simple and small as the way the tab sits against your face, thereby "changing" your anchor point? Just keep practicing with the new tab, and stick with it.
Your body will soon adjust to the change you made. Simple brain, eye, hand cordination.

I too have been amazed by the impact that changing tabs can make. I'm sure it is what woodchucker suggested, but still surprising.

I'd use the old tab.

lol! Way ahead of you. My son tried it and he shot BETTER with it than his old one so it's his now. Christmas in January I guess.

I still look for my old tab every trip to a certain spot..had a backup of the exact tab..not the same..looong process getting a new tab working for me. I think I'd rather learn to do a standing backflip.

At the risk of being the odd ball, I can switch between a couple of different tabs, a 3Rivers glove and for a few shots, bare fingers without experiencing any change in impact. Are you sure your string hand is staying anchored at the shot with both tabs?

Maybe one might be a little smoother/quicker  and maybe enough to effect arrow spine requirement thus causing the shift. If you have access to a chrono you could check that out pretty easily.
Or, is there some slight difference between them that might cause a slight change in anchor or alignment at full draw that would cause the shift?
