If you've even been on a rabbit hunt with dogs or seen videos of hunting rats with dogs from over in the UK, you would have been familiar with the deer movement yesterday in NW Missouri!

Yesterday was the last day of archery season before the orange army invades and it was nothing short of spectacular. I was sitting in a very tight stand meaning the furthest shot was 20 yards because of all the cedars and oak trees.  Deer started easing through by 7am and within 30 minutes, the cedars that had me hemmed in exploded with does being pushed by a nice 8 point. I mean deer were running everywhere! With my close confines, I couldn't get on a deer if I had a shotgun!!!   It was the wildest thing I've ever seen in my life!

By 7:45 things calmed down and I saw a nice doe and fawn coming down the hill from my right.  If she kept coming,  she'd give me a 6-8 yard shot... I readied myself in the stand for a potential shot and on she came.

She kept coming and I put some tension on the string of the little Bear Bearcat an old army buddy gave me this year after my shoulder replacement.   I used this bow as my rehab bow as it was considerably less weight than my regular hunting  bows.

On she came and when she got broadside, I was already drawn and anchored.  I released the Gold Tip 3355 arrow sporting a 175 grain Simmons Tigershark that went into her side right where I was  looking. The fletching still visible as she careened off trees on her escape from the area.

I found the back half of my arrow 15 yards along  very obvious blood trail.  She made it almost 75 yards before succumbing to the wound.   The  broadhead was still lodged in her off shoulder.[attachment=1][attachment=2]

What a beautiful animal and Story !

Those " hyper-activity " days are mighty special to whitness ...though forced to be an observation participant   ....in those moments I can't help but have a Big smile ...and have been known to stand and give a  tip of the hat for the show ;^)))

Enjoy the "many gifts" given my friend ...  Congratulations ! :campfire:

Good hunting to you all.
May the wind be your friend, and may your arrows fly true,
