I have searched and have found nothing to help me.  The 42 gr adapter is not fitting all the way into the broadhead.  There is a small gap below the Ferrule. I think that is what it should be called. Is this normal or should it fit flush ? This is on all Broadheads and adapters

SuperK

I found out the best fitting broadhead adapter for Ace Standard broadheads is the Zwickey hollow point 11/32 36 grain broadhead adapter.    This one fits "flush" in the ferrel of the broadhead.  If you need to bump up the weight some, a #5 shot fits perfect in the hollow point of the adapter and weighs approx. 5 grains each.  A 1/8 inch drive pin punch can be used for "seating" the shot in the adapter. I hope this helps.

Reduce the overall length of the adapter so it's not bottoming out in the broadhead before it's seating.
Grid file or sand the adapter end as needed
Might not take much

Than you for the reply's I thought about trying to remove a little and see if it helps, thank you again.  I will give it a try and I will also look at the Zwickey. I am shooting for 200 gr and figured a few grain up or down should not matter.

Tater John

Yes, with everything else that is going on clipping back the adapter to fit the broadhead isn't going make much difference
There are to many variables that are going to effect the groups on target you're shootings for

I don't think trimming back on the adapter is going to solve the problem.  It is probably not bottoming out.  The ferrel on the Ace is a little smaller in diameter than Zwickey and other broadheads.  I noticed this on my wooden arrows and also when I started using broadhead adapters.  The Zwickey adapters are the only ones I found that fit.

Don't sweat it, I'll be back as soon as Rob converts my video....

In the meantime, can you post a pic of the Bhead with the ferrel in it from the rear at a 45* angle?

Still post a pic when you get a chance, cutting or shortening the adapter may not make the bhead flush with the end of said adapter.

Some of my broadheads are flush and some of them are not.  Either way has
never been an issue. If it were me I would not worry about it one bit.

I shot this heavily shielded bore with an ace super express(non flush) and
aluminum forty two grain adapter. Through the shield and into the off leg
bone. I unscrewed the arrow and had to use pliers to pull the Ace out. 585

Here is a picture of an adapter I put in cordless drill and took a small piece of sandpaper and gave it a few spins

I am still at 203 grains. Should it be in further or will that work ok ?

Terry Green

Oh, wow. Where did you get those adapters? I've never seen adapters with a gap like that near the base.

Blackwidow, I am not against getting Zwickey and trying them. Should it fit all the way in. These are the first adapters I have messed with.

Zing

I just read an email from Bob at ACE, he's explained it and pretty much said some are bigger than others and that some of the 11/32 will stick out a little further. I am going to get a pack of Zwickeys and try them also.  Which ever flies the best wins.

Terry Green

Yes, Bob is correct, however, where did you get those adapters in the pics above?

That little won't effect anything and no reason to switch to another that will probably be the same.

I'll hear you Kelly.
But I have never seen one that would not go down like the top picture.  I have plenty like the second picture. Evidently I have never used those type of adapters.
