I ran into something I had never seen before when I was cutting out cedar blanks for tillering gizmos, two what I think are 00 buckshot deeply imbedded in the very old standing dead cedar tree I was cutting up for future gizmos. The projectiles are solid lead and the one that is more exposed is .32 cal or 00 buckshot. The tree was degrading, I suspect it died at least 40 or 50 years ago.

When I saw this, I had to save this piece for a very special gizmo. I filled the entry holes with superglue and saw dust as well as any cracks in the wood to stabilize it. One entry hole is in the middle of my brand. The grain on this piece of wood is beyond spectacular.

I will put this one up for a St Jude donation when I get it finished, this one is one of a kind for sure.

I harvested a bunch of curly maple years ago that had a lot of bullets in the finished riser blanks. I even built some risers with them showing a few times.

It's not very nice hitting one with a thin resawing band saw blade. I can tell ya that.  :biglaugh:

I swapped the brand to the buckshot side for more visual impact. Some people want the fancy gizmos signed so I covered that base as well.
