Hello folks,
I'm on the list for a Javaman Elkheart Magnum ( I hope the building starts in november ). But I'm still undecided. Did anyone happen to shoot the Elkheart and the Magnum in comparison. Where are the differences other than length and limb design.

I have shot them both multiple times.  The EHM is really quite incredible, even with my 30" DL.  I have shot the 52" and 54" and I think if you want a "short" longbow, you will be pleasantly surprised.  Personally, I think a 60" EH is perfect for an all-around hunting bow, but opinions vary.

TobTas

Thanks for the Information. I want a Short longbow. Short as possible..... My BigJim TC is 58 and long enough :shaka: i think i would try the EM....

Eecho

I like short bows too. I've got a 56 inch Elkhart that's a great shooter that I've been shooting the last couple of years and really like it. but had the same thought about going to a shorter version of the Elkhart and ordered a 52 inch magnum. Thinking that build that should start in November or December too.   :bigsmyl:

TobTas

Yes, short bows are the Best. For 2 month i bought a 58 TC. I love the bow👍
And now i am waiting for the Elkheart? Magnum...? But i really dont know what kinde of wood i shoud take.

Eecho

On the Elkhart I went Cocobolo & Osage.  On the magnum I went Cocobolo and quilted maple.  I'm a fan of cocobolo, Osage, maple and yew woods.

TobTas

That sounds good  :shaka:
I am thinking also about B&W ebony or something with bubinga. Koa is also intetesting...... I don't know  :dunno:

My son and I own two 58" Elkhearts and an Assyrian - love Gregg's bows! They are just so natural to shoot...
Anyway, I'm on the list also for a late fall build (coming fast) and thinking I'm going to try an EH Magnum. Wondering if any of you guys are using Gregg's 2-piece handle? I'm thinking about going with a sleeved handle, ours are currently on piece versions.
Looking forward to another Java Man bow!

I have an Elkheart with the sleeve takedown, you can't tell it's a two piece bow and I haven't noticed any negatives.   I like it better than the bow bolt because it doesn't add a substantial amount of weight.

If I could choose would take the bow bolt. I love weight in the handle. One thing ist that if you take the sleeve take down everybody wants the beaver tail grip. Than you cants see the incredible woods. So the magnum is very short. You dont need a take down  :biglaugh:

The Whittler

If you want some weight in the riser Kingwood is very nice in that category. Don't forget when you get it pics. pics.

hey guys, I draw just a little over 30" and prefer a bow around 60# at that draw. Am thinking I'll go with 54" EH mag but would love to hear a first hand account of anyone with a longer draw who's tried one. Thanks!

TobTas

I have now decided on B&W wood and it should be a Magnum. I love this wood.

Quick update spoke to Gregg last week and he's starting my EHM build. :bigsmyl:

Been shooting a 50" Elkheart Magnum now since around December and I'm impressed! It is fast and smooth! The grip is phenomenal! Went to a 3d shoot last weekend and everyone was enquiring. Many of them shot it and were impressed. Just a cool sweet little bow.

The magnum has more reflex making it a faster bow his 52" magnum on up is technically not a long bow because the string contacts the limbs

I've only shot the regular Elkheart and I was very impressed. I've never even heard of the Elkheart Magnum.
