On the short ride back to camp, the wheels were a turning.  What are the odds of getting on that same group 3 times in one day?  Ok, so why not a fourth tomorrow?

Hogs aren't suppose to be pattern-able, but these certainly had shown me a temporary one.  So, I'm gonna run with it again tomorrow. I'm going back to the garden, and if it don't work out, I'm going to throw them a curve ball tomorrow afternoon.

The AM hunt didn't happen due to the call from my wife about the friend of the family.....

OK, ...so now for the curve ball.....

I had a lock on stand and I borrowed Matt Schuster's ladder that lead to the top of his camper.  It was a brown folding ladder that had rusted into a brown non-folding ladder. Perfect!

I bungied it to the top of my rover, and yes, I went to hang a tree stand 8 feet up on about the 40 yard line of the west side of the garden.

See, these hogs were moving back and forth...OK wait...need to give ya a mental picture of the garden.

The Garden runs basically east and west lets say, its 200 yards long and averages about 40 yards across.  What most of us would call the 'far side' is lined with 15 to 20 foot trees.  These trees are covered from the ground up in all sorts of vines.  Its virtually a curtain veiling what's going on 'back stage' in the hardwoods n cypress bottom.  This curtain has numerous tunnels, some that only allow small glimpses of the forest beyond, many black holes that don't.  I would be facing the curtain.

Got the stand hung and the branches pruned.  As my TX buddy David Shepard would say...."that's a mighty fine lookin death trap if'n ya ask me".

OK...now all I needed was for the hogs to do the same thing as they had done before, just prance east and west right up the middle, and maybe one of them sweet smelling sows would walk him right by me....dang its getting hot, need a drink of gator aide and a cool breeze....so back to camp to re gear up.

Back at camp, I was anticipating the evenings hunt with great excitement.  Hanging a stand for hogs is not how I hunt them, but it just felt like the best thing to do.  Definitely a different approach, and I was looking forward to see how it all played out.  And a play it would seem to be.....

I wasn't sure there was going to be a play this evening, or what time it would start, but I sure was going to be there early in my front row seat.

I got settled in about 6:30, and nothing was stirring till the 1st squeal rang out about 7:10.  The characters were making there way into the back stage area, and they were in no real hurry.  I heard them behind the curtain for 45 minutes and had been wondering for some time if they would start the production before dark.  The suspense was killing me.

Bout 8 O'clock the curtain started to rustle, and act one was about to begin.

The leading man marched out of one of those holes to my right.  When he got about 5 yards onto the stage two supporting actors trotted out behind him and flared in opposite directions.  Then 5 more piled out of their own individual hole at the same time.....within just a few seconds the stage hosted 8 hogs, and the curtain was still rustling.  I don't know how many hogs came onto the stage, but I know the leading man angled toward me and started strutting right down the center of the stage.

When he stopped, he didn't stop long, and he wheeled right and headed wide open for a black hole.  He literally dove into it, and the curtain rocked and rolled 20 feet in both directions.  I don't no how it didn't come down to tell you the truth.....

Act one sure was short.....but I certainly enjoyed it none the less...I also enjoyed the destruction going on now back stage.......

A pig stopped 20 feet from Tarz is in big trouble. You must have been taking shot placement lessons from Skyler from the look of that spray. Hero pics gotta be on deck.

bbassi

Huh? What'd I miss? Did you cause that Terry or was there it a pig fight like Rosey vs. Star Jones going on that caused that?
