Yes, I have been there twice and had great times on both trips. I was last there in 2014.  Very nice accommodations, first rate family, and I believe that he limits the whole ranch to one party (can be one person) at a time. I would be happy to talk with you about it.

I just sent my deposit yesterday for a August 2018 hunt with Makalaan.  I am already excited.  Made some heavier arrows and have been shooting them daily.  Trying to get a list together of everything I need to take.  Also using a travel consultant who is checking on different routes to Namibia.  I have heard bad things about SA, so checking on the Frankfurt route.  Might be a little more expensive, but would give a break from a 16 hr flight to SA.

Is this just a shoot at this place or is it legit hunting and still challenging? How was your experience thinking of going?

I can give you more information when I return from hunting with Makalaan Outfitters.  I am going I Aug.  I have visited with several people that have hunted with them and have not had one bad response from anyone.  My wife will be going along to take the photos and video and she has been welcomed by them as well.  They are also going to take us on a safari to one of the national parks before the hunt.  My hunt will be 8 days and we are really looking forward to it.  The only bad part will be the 16 hr. airline flight, especially since I don't like to fly. ha

You obviously have never been to Africa.  Most hunting in South Africa and Namibia takes place on private ranches that are high fenced to keep poachers out.  Fenced areas are typically greater than 10,000 acres.  Inside the fenced areas you typically have some leopard and other predators.  The animals are anything but tame and don't stand around waiting for you to knock them off.

Three weeks and I will be on my way to Namibia.  Have already got a lot packed.  Just working on a backup bow now.  Borrowed it from a buddy and it shoots the same as my bow.  Put on a new string and puffs to quiet it down.
I might mention, yesterday I went to Rocky Mountain Speciality Shop in Denver for the bow string.  They were out, but stopped everything and made me a string while I waited.  This is by far the best archery shop I have ever been in.  It is about 50 - 60 miles from the house, but a nice drive when the traffic is not bad.  I would recommend this shop to any and all trad archers.  Also bought a dozen Cut Throat 200 gr. single bevel broadheads from them.  They took them out of the packages and touched them up to razor sharpness for me.

Just returned - what a great hunt.  I highly recommend Makalaan Safaris in Namibia.  Affordable and great hosts.
