Hey guys,

For those of you use a clicker: After reaching anchor and sighting properly, approximately how much distance do you cover during the "expansion phase" before your clicker clicks? I feel like I'm pulling almost an inch before it clicks (which feels like a mile) and am curious if it's due to one of the following reasons:
  - I've started using a fixed crawl about 3/4" down below the nock but did not change my clicker length so since the bottom limb is flexing more than the top would this account for the longer distance to click?
  - I don't feel like the bow shoulder is caving in making the expansion take so long, but could this be the reason?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks!
John

My answer would be no more than 1/8th inch.  It is important to note that in the system I teach, your string hand does NOT move from your facial references( anchor)!! You pull the string side shoulder back more but the string hand does NOT move.

So no easy written answer for you here but if the required movement is more than 1/8th, something isn't working correctly, IMO.

Your draw length shouldn't change, just because you start using a fixed crawl.  If the fixed crawl causes you to have to draw more to get to the clicker, then that means you should adjust the clicker.  I have an old arrow with a washer between the point and the shaft which is exactly at my draw length.  I draw it occasionally to keep me honest, or to measure the draw weight of a bow at my exact draw length.  Figure out what your draw length should be, and make one of these for yourself.  Then if you do something that changes how much you have to draw to make the clicker go off, you know what you have to adjust.
