I agree, those old does are some of the smartest critters in the woods.  One year one of the Shrewhaven gang shot a long nose 'suzy' and they took it in to the DNR check station.  They said she was 7 1/2 years old.  That's a lot of MI Upper Peninsula winters that old gal made it through.
