Our first trip to Kansas ended well for me. I was the only one that shot recurve. Everyone else had compounds. Still have a ton to learn how to hunt this ground, deep cuts, fields, creeks and gnarly trees...

Thanks everybody. We were hunting in Smith county (north central). We were on a working cattle farm. Some wheat fields, some cut soybeans and some plowed ground. The creek bottoms were mostly deep cuts. Want to go turkey hunt/scout in the spring. This buck, li,e many others, really responded to calling. He came across about 150 yards of open field before he stoped 19 paces from me. I was hiding in a tree line in the shade. There was a cross wind and I had lobbed a scent wick out in front of me. It was really cool to watch him lick his nose trying to process the scent. Thanks again. I'm really a new trad hunter and want to learn all I can.
