I had some free time this weekend so I put this together. I wanted a good skinning knife for this year and I like an up-swept blade for skinning deer, so here is what I came up with. Overall length is close to 9". Scales are elk antler and steel is 1084.

Nice knife Caley, as always...so am I correct that the short lanyard is just a handy way to get the knife out of the scabbard?

I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42

KSCATTRAPR

Yes Dave you are correct. I make most of my sheaths so the knife fits deep into the sheath and the lanyard makes it easier to get the knife out. With the knife deep into the sheath, there is less of a chance of the knife falling out while you are wearing it. My dad lost one of his knives a few years ago when it fell out of the sheath...I told myself I would never let that happen.

Some people like them, some don't. It's just a personal preference thing I giess.

Now there's the hand of a "workin man". And a nice lookin skinner too.

That is a very cool knife!  The Elk scales put over the top!

Nice work!

I like it. Should get the job done.
Life is hard, but it's harder if you're stupid.

Thanks guys, appreciate it.

That is nice. Very nice! I'm working on a very similar rasp knife right now.

You'll notice the "luckiest" elk hunters have worn out boots.

Thanks Todd, can't wait to see it.

Ha!  And you thought you'd be done for a while after the last 2 knives you posted.  Another great knife Caley.
Never quit doing good.
