Well I thought I'd show my knife making shop...just part of my unheated garage.  This time of year my propane heater makes it possible & rather nice to work out there.  In warm weather I just open garage door & try to work out side as much as possible especially forging.  Most of my benches come from our dump...excuse me Re-cycling Center!  So nothing fancy except the KMG grinder.  I used my drill press, bandsaw, & bench grinder plus the KMG the most.

Here's the KMG grinder with the attachments.

Platen for flat grinding.

10" wheel for hollow grinding

Small wheel for getting in just about any tight spot.

Interchangeable small wheels.

For small detail filing & finish work this little vice mounted on a para pedestal works great.  It can rotate 360% without taking the knife out of the vise.

OK let's see your shops...Doc

My Forge (ok, I know, It's a brake-drum from a truck, but hey! It works! Notice alsotheclever bellows ducting, scaffold tube, for my hi-tech bellows/hairdryer!)

The Gift Anvil (2-1/2 CWT, given tme by a friend)

Trusty MIG welder (I don't know how people managed before these things were invented!)

Grinders...

grinders...

and more grinders!!

St. Judes knife, roughed out & clamped in the 6" vice, for scale.

How in the world do you guys keep your shops so clean? You guys are almost as bad as Dano. How do ya find anything?<>< BTW I gotta get me a ANVIL! Those things look so cool and I bet it beats the heck outta banging ona flat piece of steel that jumps everytime I smack it.LOL<><

Frank. Do you have a railyard nearby? If you do, go and beg yourself 18" of track. Sit it upside-down on a big block of timber & you've got an instant anvil! (for around 1% of the price of a real one!) If you need to use the horn-end for bending & pre-forming, just flip it over & use the top face.
My first anvil was just such a thing & it worked a treat. Only thing is, you need at least 18" to get th weight needed to stop it bouncing. I had mine sat in a piece of 4" channel, bolter to a tree stump, so I could easily flip it over. If I hadn't been given my big anvil, I'd still be using it now!

Ok now that makes sense. If I took a pic of my shop right now all you guys would flip out. Messy don't cover it by a longshot. Just ask Leroy.LOL<><

Here is my hidey hole. Trying to get it set up for woodworking, and is a work in progress yet.  Having a place like this to hang out in makes winter weekends much better!  I can always find something to do.
