Same goes for religion.

I see a very large law suit coming against her and the court house for harrasment of a hunter.  With that video tape there is absolutely no reason why that guy couldnt get what he deserves in a real courtroom without a hippy behind the desk.  Makes me sick to say the least.

DTS

Unbelievable!!!  Where did this video come from?  The judge may not need to be suid but at least reprimanded.  This video needs to be sent to all our hunting organizations especially the NRA who seem to be pretty aggressive in their defense of hunters rights.      Religion plays a major part in my life much like hunting and I don't like either bashed or discriminated against.  God bless.

"WOW' With the comments she made there is no way she should be allowed to continue being a judge. She basically stated that was no way this defendant would get a fair trial.

Judges have people to answer to for their actions also. There needs to be something done about that. Its on flim and no denieing it.It matters not that it is about hunting but its a matter wrongfully detaining someone who has done nothing and or said anything or even disrupting her court room. She will be reprimanded if it was pressed and boy does it need to be pressed.

If this is real, I think she is not long on the bench.   She is no judge.

I would like to say I'm shocked but I'm not. Too many judges are plain " rump orifices".

Where did that come from beachbowhunter?

Our laws in America are founded on the 10 Commandments...not personal feelings.

Wasn't she a pompous "female dog in heat"!  Talking all hoity toity to the guy.  Like she was in her royal tower looking down on the peasants.  I may not be able to sleep after listening to that annoying voice of hers.

The USSA has a fund for defending guys like this from judges like her. I'm attempting to get the link in the right hands there.

Judge Leslie Lewis - 3rd District Judge in Utah

Apparently a well-known whack-job (she's nicknamed 'Screwy Lewie')
There is a very LOOOOONG list of inappropriate behavior in court - and out.
The title in the photo is in reference to an incident where she had dinner with the defense attorney for a case she was hearing... DURING THE MIDDLE OF THE CASE!!!!
She's been investigated and reprimanded several times.
How these people get into - and somehow KEEP - a position of authority is frightening....

This is her voice-mail number:
801-238-7513

and address:

Third District Court - Salt Lake City
450 South State Street
P. O. Box 1860
Salt Lake City, Utah 84114-1860

Let her know what you think of her inappropriate behavior

Didnt she say during the film clip that she was RECUSING herself from the case...she made the statement that she had very strong feelings about killing deer....then she brought that man back into the courtroom and asked him the question, then she started her lecture and said very plainly....I was recusing myself....that means she was saying she had a prejudice in the case and could not sit the case any longer.

I think the guy just pissed her off with his comments as he was leaving the courtroom. She may be a whack job but I THINK the guy listened to her and pre judged what she was attempting to do?????????? Which was the right thing, in this case.

The rest of the story as far as I could find out:

The defendant was being charged with helping a friend of his move a poached deer.  (He didn't shoot it himself, and was called after  the fact to help his buddy get the deer home)  He was later tried by a different judge and was (appropriately) found guilty and lost his hunting license for a few years and received a large fine.

She was recusing herself from the case, but she wanted to be sure she had the chance to belittle and berate the defendant - who at this point was still supposed to be "innocent until proven guilty", remember?
Totally inappropriate - but not nearly so inappropriate as forcibly returning his brother to the courtroom and expecting him to stand there and listen to her tirade, because he  sighed  as he left the courtroom.  Then to top it all off, she handcuffs him and put him in a cell because when she asked him a question, his answer wasn't what she wanted to hear.

This is the absolute essence of an activist judge - acting based not on the law, but her own personal biases.

Its sad, discouraging, and thoroughly disgusts me.

Take a look at some of the comments made on the video below it on the site. Some interesting responses.

Indeed - I seriously doubt all of the respondents were hunters, but the vast majority saw this woman for what she is......

Look, a judge is in charge in a courtroom.  Good or bad.  If you do what that guy did, you can expect similar treatment.  Imagine a brother to a murderer sighing loud enough to be clearly heard on a mic and then making a display of exiting.

This guy did it and it showed a lack of respect for an established authority.  There are much better ways of expressing displeasure with an elected official.
Take a kid hunting!
