Thanks everyone.

Ron--As always, we will be putting our best foot forward at the chili contest...I was just looking at some pictures the other day.  My son was 5 years old when we started entering the contest as a team.  Each year I let him do more and more of the prep work.  He is 10 now and it is HIS chili.  All I do is provide the meat   ;)  .  Looks like that will be changing real soon too...his first hunt will be next month for turkeys up around Cadillac.  Here is a pic from a few years ago.  Daniel is on the left, man they grow up so quick!

Just a little turkey update...3am arrival for Gary took the wind out of his sails, so he will start this afternoon   :saywhat:

I'm especially happy I got a bird because we are having a little cookout over here this afternoon for some of my Iowa friends and I won't have to rush around to have things ready.  How about some Bacon Wrapped Cougar Kabobs, Antelope Loins, and Terriaki Venison Steak on the grill, with a batch of Hot Pepper Cheezy Potatoes in the Dutch Oven   :campfire:

Congrats. on the bird and fellowship.  I'm still after those elusive toms myself. Hoping to get lucky.
God is good, all the time!!!

Steve, you simply can't go through life using designated hitters to kill stuff for you to make yourself look competent. At least Gary, Brian and Mike are off the hook now. For the time being anyways What really blows me away is the fact you have now stooped low enough to pay a ten year old kid to be your designated hitter in the chili contest! You can do things and maybe even close deals on your own someday. I gotta go do some push ups. I'm going to be the designated hitter for a porn star next week.

Nice Job Steve!  Can you give a few more details on your "Dark Archer" Bob Lee bow?  Would you recommend it to other wanta be turkey hunters?

Thanks, Shawn

Uncle Gene, where would a guy be without friends?

 :goldtooth:

You ever get too old and crusty to drag out those big bucks, I'd make the 10 hour drive to help you out...

The Double Bull guys did a pretty good job desinging that bow to work in ALL their blinds.  My Dark Archer is 55# @ 28" and is 54" long.  I draw 29 1/2" and that is about as far as I'd go with it.  The botom of my ring finger on my draw hand is rubbing a little bit.  I'm guessing a guy would be pinching with a 30" draw.  I have some compound buddies out here that will attest it shoots pretty good.  I gave them some judos and taught them the fine art of stump shooting...

To show you what a good guy Gene is, he took me out even  after he knew I was using a big ol' Snuffer   :D  .  I did promise to use my Wensel Woodsmen when I draw my Utah elk tag this year...

Nice going Steve and welcome to the League of Successful Turkey Thumpers.  Keep poking and puttin-em down each season and you can work your way up through our ranks.  I must admit we're getting a little anxious waiting for Gene's next qualifier:^)  But, hey, it's a limited membership so a guy's got to produce or fold his blind.  Hey, I saw Gene picking on you . . . nothing like a little counter punch, HA!

The saddest part about the whole thing is that Steve makes it a habit to repeatedly call it a "Karch Woodsman" right in front of me!

I guess I left that out, didn't I.

11 feet.

I've killed every animal I've shot at under 12 feet...I'm trying to extend that range   :D

Congrats. Love the pics. Seems like your guide is developing a little lean to the right.

I didn't even notice that Bruce!  If Steve hadn't been standing there holding him up he would have tipped right over!  :biglaugh:
