Thanks Jeff, I would guess that piece of wood was around 75 yards or so.  Our stump shooting sure was fun. The fellowship was even better. A GREAT Group of guys.

Me Mark & Curtis had a bit of stumpin' sesh on the walk back in on day 2. I'd busted an arrow & lost the point & insert. Curtis thought it'd be funny to shoot it out of his brush bow at a big Yucca plant. The damn thing flew better out of his bow like that than it ever did with a broadhead from mine!  :D
If you ever need to get acclimated with Texas hill country, call up them 2 Texas mountain boys! Boy, they sure can climb a hill. Seemed like a bit of a joke, to me, putting the fat, pasty foreigner with th 2 fittest guys in camp! They don't call it the Sweat for nothin'!   :biglaugh:

I was easing up the incline very slowy as light was already upon us. Bob took a sit in a blind and I decided to go around and up in search of a ram. I spotted movement up ahead and got down and into position and glassed the animal. NICE ram. The stalk was on and seemed to take forever. Finally I was in position for a shot at 30 yards. On my knees I started to draw when a second animal started to appear over the rise., Then another and this one was a MONSTER. Passing up the shot I waited and tried to get into position for a shot on the big un as the first fed away...

Slowly working the available cover and depressions I was in range. As I was getting ready to draw the last ram cam over the rise and busted me. Snort, The Jig was up and off they went. This is what they looked like.

I just got home to read all the adventures of G-2.  Seems like you guys had as much fun as we did.  Rob, congrats on that nice red head!  Keep the stories coming.

My father-in-law passed away right after I got home from G-1.  He had a long illness so it was a blessing but you're never prepared.  Then my mother-in-law had a mild stroke when we all arrived.  It's been a hard week but things are calming down now.  I needed a few lighter things to read and you guys sure provided that.  Thanks...Doc

Our man Rob was so envious of all the fish in the river. He spent a lot of time bowfishing to much satisfaction. Although he should have asked for some sunscreen! He was looking a little like a beet  :saywhat:  Here he is in action

I'm not so sure he did not enjoy the bowfishing more. Made me jealous I left mine at home after seeing all the fun he was having. And here he is with one of his catchs. I'll let him tell of the big one that got away!

Texas was a little more rugged than I expected. At least in our location of it! Looks can be deceiving.

The hills where just a little more than that. And covered in small to large rocks under foot. Even step you took you really had to watch just where it was going. Because if it wasn't a rock to twist your ankle. It was some spiney thing wanting to stick you in it. Things that looked like these, so beautiful yet so unforgiving.

The rocks under foot made stalking and being quite. Darn near impossiable, always clanking and banging. And always at the wrong time!

I must admit when I first heard that Curtis had decided to move the Sweat hunt away from prime javi/hog South Texas country I couldn't understand why.  After looking at these pictures from G1 and G2 it is clear.  Awesome vistas,a beautiful river, and abundant game with lots of headgear. Can't beat that!

Curtis seems to have a way of putting together some magical hunts.  I can tell from everyones pictures and stories that the Sweat IV was another success.

Can't wait to see and hear more.

Chris

P.S. Sorry to hear about the loss Jeff.
Life ain't a dress rehearsal.

Even the rocks had rocks!!!!

Lots of the ridges of rock had other rock, which looked like it was molten into it. Not sure what this other stuff is. Chert? maybe.

Brent

And

Jeff our condolences to you and your family.
