On Thursday afternoon I headed up to my cabin for a few days of hunting.  Rut should be kicking in, but the action was slow.

The first evening I saw a few deer in a large picked bean field, but nothing close.  The second day I didn't see a deer from my stand, morning or evening.  Not even the little bucks seemed to be wandering around like they should be at this point.  Where were they?  And where were the does?

Saturday morning called for east winds, and I had a stand on a ridge that would be perfect for that.  A spike came in to a rattling sequence early, but that was it until 9:10am.  I'll let the pictures tell the rest of the story.

Joe it doesn't get any better than that! Congrats! Were you shooting one of your 3 piece recurves or longbows can't make it out.Looks like a LX  longbow limbs?

VTer

Yes, nice shot, and a great deer. How far did he go? and, did you find your broadhead, it looks like it's missing in the photo?

Beautiful buck and a nice shot.  I love to see arrows done in that particular color.

Bentpole, yes, that is the RER LX with longbow limbs.  I didn't find the broadhead.  The arrow exited right at the offside elbow and snapped off the last four inches or so of arrow.  Probably as he brought his leg back to run.

Here is a picture that shows the bow a little better.

If you haven't completely skinned him out --Is the broadhead lodged on the inside of the opposite leg/shoulder?

Bentpole, you're right - Cocobolo and Osage riser.  The limbs have Frogskin Alder laminations over Action-Boo cores.  64", and 57#@29".

This is a picture I took of it hanging in a tree behind my house last week.  Look closely right where the lower limb joins the riser!   ;)  Little button buck seems to like the combination!  After a short stare he wandered off unmolested.

Boff, I skinned him last night and no broadhead to be found.  I'm going to do a better search next time I am up there, but it is going to be tough.
