My wife took this picture yesterday of a black squirrel that hangs out in the patch of woods behind our house. I thought it was pretty cool.

What if you woke up tomorrow, with only what you thanked God for today ???

Very cool pic!

Used the see Black Fox squirrels while hunting Fort Bragg. The locals used to call them Boomers. I have seen them with many different colors like black, red, white, and the mixed. the prettiest one I had ever seen was a black and red one.

I have at least 2 of them around my house ... i see them allmost every day.

There was one complete black too but i did not see it some time. Seems that neibours cats had diferent dinner.   :campfire:
Will you eat that? If not, why did you kill it?

Here is one of those mutant NC Fox Squirrels. We call him "Smokey". He is all gray with a normal color tail.

I LOVE Black Squirrels!!!!! I head up to adkmountainken's every fall under the "guise" of deer hunting.....

What I'm REALLY after is the chance to fling arrows at those BEAUTIFUL black elusive little critters!!!!!
I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!

Never seen a grey fox squirrel that grey before. Cool.

I've got a young grey fox squirrel from the first litter of squirrels this season. They raise 2 or 3 litters every year in an old corn crib. First time I've seen anything but normal coloring from these particular squirrels.

Use to see black fox squirrels on Sullivans Island in South Carolina, just across the river from Charleston. Saw a white one in Duncanville, TX. I promise you the different colors will jump out at you. Thanks for sharing.

Black squirrels are the norm in my area of the world. In fact, it's rare to see a grey Eastern Grey squirrel.

Here's a black fox squirrel. We have several like this, as well as all white, a buckskin color with black socks and face mask, as well as the typical coyote silverback grizzly colored ones with black face and feet/tail tip.

Very cool squirrels.

Ray...that is some unique coloration on that one. Do you have many running around the property with that salt and pepper look.

I have seen the Boomers up in NC that are all black, white, red, and a mixture of those colors but never like that one.

Very cool looking.

I wouldnt say we are overrun, like we are with the gray squirrels...we could bust out into a squirrel hunt when you are up, Chris..if you've a mind to..as we have THOUSANDS of gray squirrels.

I wouldnt want to hunt the foxies though, as they are neat and we don't have too awfully many of them.

Sounds good Ray...I think a morning or afternoon hunting tree rats would be great. May have to sneak off somewhere so I do not bother everyone else.

I wouldn't want to shoot one of them Fox squirrels either. Had many a chance up in NC and never did it. I just think they are neat and want to try for some pics of some while I am there.
