Well after being frustrated by the elk everytime out this fall I wanted to draw some blood. This doe was in the wrong place at the wrong time   :D  I slipped up on her in the sage brush yesterday evening and sent a stone pointed arrow thru her. The shot wasn't ideal but the end results were OK.

It was snowing so hard that visibility was only like 40 yards, she was something over 20 yards in chest high brush. At the shot her and her companion departed in a hurry and I thought I'd shot under her, looked for the arrow for some time with no luck so went looking for the deer. I'd completely lost track of them but spotted a group of other does and fawns below me a couple hundred yards and sat glassing them till almost dark. One was definately lagging behind but was still staying with the group. I slipped out and went back up this morning and spotted a flock of magpies up the slope, a sure sign of something dead. Sure enough my doe had died in her bed during the night.

A little far back, one lung and clipped the liver. Shooting a Dryad Wind Talker 65# (awesome bow!) a C-biskit arrow, (Thanks Chris) with one of my stone points.

Way to make it happen. Maybe you can go back when all the snow is gone and find that arrow.

It was in the 90's here, while you were killing that deer in the snow. What a difference. How about sending some of that cold weather our way. Maybe it will get rid of the mosquitoes.

Way to go Doug!  That is just too cool.  I'm with you Warren, it's 75 here in New Hampshire today, we could use to cool temps.  (Ask me in January though)

Yep Chad Mike outdid his self. Thanks everybody, never really got cold and that was kind of an early blizzard. It was snowing so hard the tracks filled about as soon as they were made. Supposed to get more fall like for a while but I like seeing those white mountains

Congratulations Doug! I sure know how you feel about the elk -- they really kicked my butt again this year. I plan to take it out on the local whitetails per your example. So far 1 doe down and 5 deer tags yet to be filled. The good news is the rut is just starting to heat up around here. Good luck the rest of the season. Keep the stories and pictures coming!  Dan
To me, the ultimate challenge in bowhunting is not how far away you can succesfully make a killing shot but rather how close you can get to the animal before shooting.
