I've had a bunch of guys email me lately about how to finish arrows. I've never tried to keep it a secret as to how I finish my arrows. My question is - how many guys out there would like me to do an arrow buildalong? And if we do this - what are the things or questions that you would really like to see answered? Let me know ASAP, I will probably change the post name and begin tomorrow or the day after. I will start  photographing a couple sets in the morning and I will make a custom buildalong set that hopefully answers all the questions we get. Might be some pretty funky looking arrows:)

I did this in another forum and the reception was pretty good.  I say go for it.

Fletch,

I would love to see this as I am about to take the plunge and begin building my own arrows.  Thanks for the offer.

It would be nice to know the right way. Do you use a chain saw like me? I'm gonna watch.

Would love to see a build-along here.  I've made several sets of shooters too; but, I just haven't mastered the art of display quality yet.  I'd be intereseted in a marbled-type dip and how to get the clean splice on fletching.  Anxiously awaitin your post

I'll watch. Are you starting with a ordered shaft or cane? I have several dozen raw shafts setting around ready to start. I am also interested in splicing.

Hey Michael,
Count me in on the build along too!  I can do shooters but would really like to make some nice ones (I will still shoot them too).
When do we get started?

The first thing I had to do is go out into my dirty shop and find a good set of shafts.

I settled on a matched set of hildebrand Spruce shafts. They are 11/32" 55-60# and weigh 413 to 438 grains. so I guess we are officially started - this is gonna take a few days.

The next thing is to make sure they are all cleaned up and nock tapered. I was going to use all Home Depot stuff for this thread but since somebody wants multiple colors on the crowns, I will use some of the more expensive stuff that not all guys will have. I will be sure to let you know when I'm using stuff you don't need. We will White Crown these and then red Cap them and then we will put spliced feathers on board. as far as whether they are worth it "nope" but that is only my opinion. We will finish these up with brass points and they should be real lookers.
