Here is the doe I shot opening evening (Oct 1) behind my house.  This deer is the first I have killed on my own place (only 20 acres, but I've seen a couple of nice bucks back there over the last 3 years).  I'm not much of a doe killer-kind of soft hearted, and can't bear the thought of orphaning the little flippies-but when a good sized lone doe showed up friday things felt right.  I shot her at 13 yds with my Widow and a big Snuffer on a Carbonwood.  The arrow entered the center of the ribcage and exited through the back of the shoulder blade on the off side.  Doe went about 60 yards.  She was dry (good for my consience) and weighed 140lb live weight on the scale.

Congratulations, that will be some good eating!  If you have a cast iron skillet you could make some blackened tenderlion with mushrooms.  You shouldn't worry so much about shooting does either.  It just shows that you are an equal oppurtunity kind of guy who believes in womens rights    Joseph

The color is OK, but what I REALLY like is the jacket itself.  I had one that was made like this years ago and was tickled to find they are making them again.  Predator's "Bowhunters Jacket" is the single best designed hunting jacket I've ever seen.  Great fit, great pockets.  The only problem is the knit cuffs-pick up too many stick-tights for here.  I cut off the cuffs and put a button-tab on the wrists.

Dandy elk!  Your quote "Life is wonderful in Montana" became a running joke between me and my buddy from Ohio on our antelope hunt this fall.  I dont know how many times I said that over the first three days of rain, sleet, snow, cold, and wind (on an antelope hunt...).  Thats pretty country up there, but I'm just gonna visit for now, those "Fergus county 4-point" whitetails just don't get my blood boiling the way our big midwestern ones do!

Yep Ryan you probably hit the only three days of nasty we had that month, not a good time to buy a loto ticket    and most of them Fergus Co bucks do leave a little to be desired. I'll bet there some real hogs around though. Heck if everybody liked it it'd be like the midwest here
