With a bad elbow, that's about as much as I'm going to get out of a heavier arrow and a traditional bow.  What are reasonable expectations for which animals at this energy using a 2 blade?

Steve like Jon said you should be fine. as long as your broad heads are like razors you will slice right through most any plains game. which 2 blade are you using?  Ed had a pass through on an eland using a 52# bow and arrows that were right at 600 grains. shot placement is going to be a bigger key from what i have experienced.

This is a great question.  I've been a lurker on the site for quite a while and listened to most people suggest 700-900 grain arrows for plains game.  This is nice to hear.

Truthfully, I would still recommend an arrow over 600 grains, but I think as long as you make your shots count that you will be fine with that setup.

Rob,

My safari isn't until next August, so I'm still playing - haven't decided on broadheads, although I'm shooting some Ribtek 145wides on woodies for deer this year.  During the winter, I will probably play with weighting up some GT's or other carbons.

I used 685 grain carbons and 54# longbow. Never did know how fast they moved. I do know they went through a kudu bull, a kudu cow, two impala, and were only stopped by the off shoulder on wildebeest and zebra. I used 2 blade Magnus on all but wildebeest. That was a Wensel Woodsman. Shot placement and sharp. Good luck.

Your producing 33.86 ft lbs of KE at that weight and speed.

If I was worried a out my set up on African game, I would not use ribteks.  That deep coregated furrel will eat up too much of your energy.

Use most any head but that Rib-Tek, Magnus, WW a Zwickey. Rib-teks are not real tough either. Shawn
