Heard from Galen. He asked if I'd post up his report! Surgery went "well". Here's his report:

7 hrs total surgery time looks like 4-5 lb tumor removed ended up with a cholostomy because of the damage dome by the tumors. Feeling good though.

With this man's positive attitude and faith in God, all will be fine and he'll adjust to the Colostomy, of that I'm certain.

Well it's been a tough 7 days since the surgery They had a hard time getting the tumor out since the grew together. So it was another 4-5lb mass but they got it out. I'm still in the hospital and we don't have an tentative release date. Healing has been slow but it is progressing. I ended up with a temporary colostomy which isn't a horrible thing. Did scare my wife when due to a clogged tube the epidural that when the Dr pushed the drug through my blood pressure dropped to 31 over 27. I lost my vision in my left eye due to the pupal being over dilated. My wife beat on my feet while the room full of Drs got me stabilized. Though I was going home stump shooting with Jesus. Once things settled down my vision settled down.
Since then I've had hick ups for 6 days. They got really bad about 4 this morning but my nurses got enough pain killer in me to settle them down. Then this afternoon I was asleep for 2 hours and didn't hick up once but when I awoke I had 2 hours of hick ups in 10 minutes. I thought I was tearing everything up that the surgeon had done. After massive pain killers it became tolerable again. My tech asked if I wanted to try something her Dr showed her which I did. It let me drink enough water to let me burp and stopped the hick ups. The come back but I can stop them again or reduce the severity. Just a bid pressure differential above and below my diaphragm.
So thank you again for all your prayers.

In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

Finally appears we're over the hump. Tough nite last nite but made it through. I had a ct scan to see if there was any blockage. I had to get pumped full of water and drink a quart of prep so I ended up with a bad case of hick ups. Was worried I'd get sick in the scanner especially since it was deeper than the one I was used too. The lady ran into the scanner until I couldn't see out and claustrophobia kicked in. I'm waving my arms to get their attention and then bail out of there. The tech said she wouldn't run me in so far next time which was good because it scared the hick ups right out of me   ;)   With all that fluid the kidneys finally kicked in and clear the kidney to much better levels. The ct scan appears clear so things are moving along well now but no exit date so far. But I'm finally getting real food.
Thanks as always for your prayers!

Wow...been away a few days, Galen and you've surely had a go-around this time with post-surgery!

"Scared the hiccups outa me"... well, that is what we always did to kids...scared them bad enough to wet their drawers to cure hiccups!

Hope the hiccups go and stay AWAY and the kidney's start doing a fine job and you get plenty of exercise reaching for the urinal... or perhaps you have the easy route of a Foley C?

Either way, continued prayers for positive progress and a return home to your abode and a pup that likely misses you big time!

Keep the Son in your eyes, Galen!

Met with the oncologist today. He was impressed with the surgeons work & based on the ct scan they did in the hospital it appears there may be a tumor the size of a marble visible. No chemo planned just get well & we keep an eye on it.
Thanks for the prayers!!!

I'm sure you'd like to give that marble away to some kid to shoot with, but all things considered, it's still GOOD NEWS!

Good luck with the recovery and prayers continue for progress and healing and back to the hills!

Don't you have a date with a sheep somewhere up there in those craigs?
