In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

Sweet.I have one also but is in need of tip repairs.Shoots the GT 600's like a rocket.Any idea.Small cracks at the string grooves.

Buy a bottle of super glue, some overlay material, and replace them.  It is not complicated.  Bowdoc had a good explanation in his Bow Restoration 101 thread.  I have it saved to hard disk if you can't find it.  Let me know if I can help.

Cool, just checked that out.Got some black and red phelonic if that will work.Going to give it a try.Got to get a bottle of the 420 loctite.

warpedarrow

The 420 is too thin to use for tips.  I like the Loctite gel in the silver and blue bottle.

Ok, but should I use a syringe to get the 420 down into the small cracks that are on the tips before I add the overlays?

warpedarrow

I think that things will look differently when you get the old overlays off.  If you have a crack in the glass or wood at the string groove, you need to reinforce the glass with an underlay on the belly side of the bow.  A picture would be nice.  If you can, post a picture here or email one to me.

Ok Brad was thinking of doing both sides but this bow never had overlays on it. Will try to get a picture up. Thanks.

warpedarrow

Well, now that I look at mine, it doesn't have any tip overlay either.  That shows how much attention I paid to that bow.  Or maybe it shows just how bad my memory is getting.

If you have cracking across the tip, it has to be in the glass itself.  Does the crack follow the string groove across the tip down in the string groove?  I really need to see a picture.

This last one is what's on my handle . Got some phelonic I'm going to give it a go to put overlays on the tips. This bow shoots great and I want to try and save her.

Ouch!  It looks to me like somebody was shooting with the wrong string and just very nearly ruined the bow.  Could have been a dry fire or too light arrow weight also.

I would try to get some Loctite 420 into the cracks then put a two inch long layer of glass on each side of the bow.  When you cut the string grooves try not to cut down into the glass much when you go across the limb.

Or you can take a hacksaw and cut off the old tips and reshape new ones with a dremel tool or drill and sanding wheel.  My preference would be over and underlays.

Don't know who shot what out of it but I built a new B50 12 strand string and padded the loops. I shoot 495 grain GT 600 out of it.I think I'm going to try the overlays really not into shortening the bow. Thanks for all the help will keep you posted.

A 2 layer overlay similar to the tip overlays on a 53 Kodiak would look cool on that bow.
