Guys:

The good doctor just returned my 55# Kodiak and its got a slight thump at 8.25" brace height.  Any ideas on the best and prettiest silencers!  I am thinking bowhush, but has anyone found something better?  Thanks in advance!

Those rubber catwhiskers work as good as any.

I use beaver balls or mink placed exactly on the 1/4's on all my Kodiaks and they are very quiet. The type of material does not make much difference but location sure does.
Heavier arrow maybe?(10-12 gpp) Nock height will bring on noise too.

I love the look of beaver,mink,muskrat or otter balls but rubber catwhiskers are quieter IMO.

I never see any string silencers when I look at the old pictures of Fred and Glenn and their hunting buddies.  I see brush buttons alot but nothing eles.  Not to hijack your thread but maybe some of the historians can tell us how the guys shooting in the 50s and 60s silenced their bows.

My guess would be tweaking brace heights, or heck maybe they just didnt care as much as we do today.  Fred used the old noisy 4-arrow leathertop bolt-on quiver alot and most would not venture out with that rattletrap today.

20 strand B50 does not require much silencing! And those little balls work too.

My 1960 Grizz is so quiet that I do not need any silencers. Quietest bow I own or have ever shot.

The '59 Catalog recommends 6-7" BH for the 56" and 60" Kodiak; 6-3/4 to 7-3/4" for the 64"er.  Reality is most people brace them higher.  My 64" is braced at just over 7-1/2" and hardly needs silencers.
