I have been looking for a Bear bow from the mid 60's, in good shootable condition.   Also would like a 59, but fat chance on that.   I am going to refinish and hunt with them.   Does anyone know where to start looking.   I am trying to stay away from E**y.

Don't discount Pebay.  It is one of the best sources for recurves.  Many sellers don't have a clue about recurve values. There are many bows offered in "rough" condition that are still solid shooters.  These go a lot cheaper.  If you are going to refinish it anyway, what da heck/
It is a fair selling tool.  Pay attention to feedback.

Everyone will have their own opinion her, but in my opinion, the best shootin' Bear hunting bows will be the '59, '63, & 64 Kodiaks.  Unfortunately, these are also the most collectible.  Don't discount the Kodiak Hunter, Grizzly, and and others.

Irish, one of the smoothest, quietest bows out there among the vintage models, is the 1959 and 1960 Grizzly.
The bows are identical except for the tips.
You will find them on the unmentionable auction site for a wide variety of prices depending on condition and weight.

This one has a Bubinga sight window and butcher block riser.

I love those bows Bjorn!  That one's a bit over your new weight range though, isn't it?     You haven't checked the knife forum recently have you?  :D

A tigercat is a good shooting 62" bow, and reasonably priced.

Irish what year and what draw weight ??? I have a couple I may list on the classifieds later today.I am not going to list them for auction right now as I will not have time to finish the auctions before I leave for bear hunting.As they run for 7-10 days and it takes 7-10 days to get the dough from most buyers.I will be long gone by then....keep me posted and I will see what I have....bowdoc

Hi Jeremy, didn't know there was a 'knife forum' but I just went there and saw a very beautiful Damascus-hope mine turns out like that! The woods and blade are stunning.
The '59 Griz in the pic pulls and shoots so smooth it is hard to put it down.
I got a really nice 65# like it; and shot that one a few times last night-but that is definitely over my limit.

That's a dandy Bjorn, Do the 60 Grizzlies have a bigger grip than the 59s?  My 61 Grizz has much more palm swell than my 59.
