Can somone tell me if it was always Damion Howatt or did the bow maker start out as Howatt without Damion? A friend of mine has an old Howatt Hunter that makes no mention of Damion on the bow. Just curious, Thanks

The name is Damon Howatt, not Damion.

Damon Howatt was an archer, hunter, bowyer from Yakima, WA who began making bows for himself, family, and friends in the 1930's and 40's. He and wife Edna made quality bows and arrows competing with Fred Bear and Ben Pearson until he sold the company in the early 60's.

There were many models of Howatt bows which many feel are just as good (even better) than the more popular Bear bows.  Martin bought out the existing company in 1976 and continues to make several trad models.

I did not realize that Damon Howatt was one person. The bow that I am questioning has a Shield type logo with the name Howatt. No mention of Damon. I think the Damon Howatt Logo has a recurve in it with both names. Maybe this bow is an earlier model. Thanks for the info.

Yep, Damon Howatt was one person...and one of a kind.   :wavey:

The howatt hunter is a great bow and smooth shooter.
