It says "Wards western field special hunter"
62"  XX55 @28" draw.  Very staight,so I put a string on it and it shoots great.  This is the first time I've ever shot a recurve and I instantly fell in love.  I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the age or origin of this bow!

A picture would help, but it sound like it was something most likely produced by Ben Pearson for Wards. Could be a Pearson Cougar re-labeled for Wards. Nice heavy bow for that era. Show us a picture if you can. CKruse

CAMERON is right again... if it is a semi-recurve.

If it has full working recurve, then it is a Ben Pearson Colt renamed for Wards.

Ben Pearson made the Westernfields for Wards, and Bear relabeled theirs for Sears.

I is juat as good as any bow Pearson made for their own line.

The most important part of your hunting setup is the broadhead.  The rest is just the delivery system.

Papalapin, what quality were the Ben Pearson bows of this era considered to be? It seems to have held it's form very well according to the bow shop owner.  He also said that it was a remarkably quiet bow in his opinion.

P.S.  I e-mailed you a pic of the bow since I have no idea how to post pics using URL,HTML, or any other accronym I don't know the meaning of  ;)

Jory, the bow looks great. I'm convinced the above information is correct. It's great to hear about a new traditional archery convert! CKruse
