Hey guys,

I rarely come to this thread, but I've just been looking over my older Bear bows & decided to replace the missing shelf leather on my 2 static recurve Grizzlies, 1 Polar & 1 Cub. On the Grizzlies the right side is fine & the left side is missing, & on the Polar & the Cub, the shelf plate leather is missing all together.

This leather is the one piece light tan hard finish which is very similar to the grip leather on the early 50's vintage bears.

Does anyone have a line on repro or replacement grip & shelf leather for these bows? I really would like to keep these bows as original as I can.   :help:

Thanks.

If you have a leather shop around(Tandys-Leather Factory) they should have a match. Or you can contact bowdoc as he does a superb job of refinishing old Bears:

I also saw about foot square pieces of the correct leather for sale on ebay.

Thanks Ron,

I'll check the spots you indicated. I haven't 'talked' to Don in a few years.
He's top shelf.

Appreciate the response.

Contact Rick Case   Sparta, Wisconsin. He makes the old fashioned Bear Striker Plates. Don't have his number.  Dial  1-608-555-1212  and  ask for Sparta, then Richard Case.
