Hey all

I'd love to see how you guys hold your Chinooks with the thumb locator. Do you 'palm' the grip, just have the webbing and v of the thumb/index pressing against the grip?

I do the latter but notice sometimes I get a real wobble on the shot. Can't tell if I have a poor release or bad grip.

Do you have a dead straight/locked elbow with the elbow pointing out/left ( RH)? Do you have a slight bend etc?

I've tried different holds and get great results at first and then things e-x-p-a-n-d...

Since no one seems to have any direct experience with these bows, I recommend you call Dan Toelke directly and talk with him.  Not only is he a great bowyer, but he is also very knowledgeable in shooting techniques.

When I did an internet search on Toelke Chinook, there were several hits, including a few videos, where you could possibly see how other people have dealt with the issues you raise.

I talked about this with Dan; he said it's designed to be shot with about 80% of the grip in the first two fingers and thumb web.
I didn't ask further, but feel pretty certain you'd want the rest of your hand holding the grip lightly to avoid that "wobble".
