My bow is tuned for 200 grain head with standard insert, what can I do to make the same weight with 170 grain zwiky delta? They would be stiff but actually fly good if mounted right, what are my options? I don't know how much a standard easton carbon insert weighs.

several suppliers sell different weight bh adapters. I would replace adapter with one that gets you the closest to your desired weight...you could also add a footing to your arrows to accomplish the same thing.

Even for screw in carbon heads with arrow inserts?

Yes, I have ordered them from 3 rivers, I believe they have 75,100,125 grain. Just heat the head and hot melt the new adapter in the head. Use an alcohol burner, a torch can overheat the head and affect temper.

How do you know what adapter to use to equal that weight? Won't a heavier brass insert work?

Sure, it looks to me like the zwickey head has a 35 grain adapter because the glue on version is 35 grains lighter than the screw in, so you could use a 75 grain adapter in place of the stock one, or you could use a brass insert to achieve the desired weight, depending on what your inserts are glued in with may determine which would be easier...

yes 170 gr with the screw in adapter, trad only inserts are 11gr for 600 spine, 14 gr for all others...

So a 50 grain brass insert would work? Where did you find the insert weight out from? Thanks mike

Yes, a 50 grain brass insert would put at 220 grains up front. The 3 rivers catalog lists all the insert weights with the arrows they sell, and you're most welcome.

you can even do a bit of filing on the back of the insert if you are really anal about weight. I doubt 20 grains would matter much at distances of 30 yards and in.

I shoot a woodsman 200gr with a 50gr brass insert out of my Whip Classic 66" 45#@28 with GT Trads cut at 29-5/8 to the deepest part of the nock. they fly like lazers out to 22 yards. I shoot to much (60 arrows a day) I'm going to take a break for a month now and not shoot...
