I have been offered a Bear T/D recurve in "as new" condition but, being new to archery, I am not sure which model it is.
There are reference numbers on the riser of B-2198, and on the limbs of 3-5365. The limbs are attached via a hinged metal bracket and spring-clips.
Length o/a is 60"

Hope someone can throw some light on this immaculate bow.

If it has a wood riser it is a Custom Kodiak T/D and is probly a STEAL for under $500 IMO

It does have a wood riser. The wood on the belly side of the riser is a gold colour, the wood on the back side is greyish brown and there is a thin red lamination with gold stripes between the two.

They are super nice bows and often sought after, you done good in picking it up.  A brand new one run about 1000$, where as the older models range on average from the low 500$ up to 1000$ with accessories. The came in 3 risers, A,B,C and yours is a B by looking at the serial number. Makes for a 60" bow.  

Whats the draw weight on the limbs?

a B-riser in combination with #3-limbs (as yours are) makes for a AMO 64" bow, not 60". Though, I always find thats actually only AMO 63" (59" instead of 60" when using #2-limbs). Bowlenght is defined by stringlenght plus 3" - at propper brace height - but that's a different story ...

#3-limbs in good hunting weight are much sought after I think. I like my 68# pair VERY much. With a B-riser they make a fine shooting bow.
The serial number on yours is - compared to mine (3-13786) - quite low. My limbs have red tips and may be from 1973 or 1974. Yours should be older and equipped with white tips I suppose!?

I think the riser must be from the 1980th. If I recall it right only very few wooden risers were ever made in Grayling - somebody shall correct me here if neccessary - I don't want to look through all my literature right now.

I think there are better bows out there but THIS ONE is some kind of Mercedes amongst all the others. I am especially fond of the unique T/D system. Wouldn't change it for anything!
You cant go wrong with a Custom Kodiak T/D! If it not suits your style or needs you might soon resell it with profit.

I haven't got a bow stringer, and therefore cannot string it to get a good photo.
Anybody know of an easy way to make a stringer?

Oooooh, that's nice!

Very nice.  Probably my favorite takedown so far.  I just acquired my own through another member here, and it immediately became my go to bow.

The 2oo7 model sells for 1200.00

Actually that one there sells for $999, the next wood choice up is $1200. lol

What you have there is one of the original, early 70's Bear TDs.  It sure is in nice shape!  I'd love to find one like that!  Nice!!!!!!!!!
