Yup, That was us... Cade, my dad, and myself...3:30am last Friday mornin'!

We were headed to north Alabama to spend a long weekend with the wonderful Wilson family.

We'd also be joined by some other "key players" along the way. Larry Surtees, Terry Green, and Terry's lifelong buddy Doug Johnson, among them.

This was going to be good! bowshooting, bowhunting Pheasant, world class food, and anything else we could squeeze into a couple days.

We were excited when we left, and it got stronger as we traveled south.  With every passing mile, not only was the excitement level rising, the temperature was as well!

We were driving into some of the nicest weather we could have ever expected for this time of year....what a trip this was going to be!

Fast forward...to 5:45 pm central time and we were pulling into the Wilson's driveway to be greeted by great friends Don, Sky, Don's wonderful wife Tammy, Larry Surtees, and of course, little Chloe Beth...the cutest, most personality filled little red-head you'll ever meet!

After a wonderful meal of Chile made by Larry Surtees...we were off to hit the water...

Now from Terrys original thread, he showed some flu flus with blood on them so I know there must have been some phesant hunting done. The fishing stories and pics are great, but lets get some of the phesant hunting on,LOL.

Great thread.

Excitement was at an all time high for Cade(and me). He'd never done any bird hunting before, especially with his Big Ed longbow.

It wasn't long before we heard.........Point!

Intensity!
•

Don and I had talked prior to the hunt starting about letting Cade get the first shot at a bird that might hold tight on the ground. For a ten yearold, that would still be seriously high adventure!  I told Terry about our plan and he was all for it!

I'd talked to Cade on the drive to our hunting land about safety, and what to expect on the hunt. I'd also taold him to shoot the bird "dead center". Either from the side, or into his back. This would likely anchor the bird, and kill it quickly.

I was also afraid that he'd feel alot of pressure with everyone watching, and the fact that the bird could flush at any moment......

....he got to where he had a good shot, drew, and

Talk about proud!

With Terry...

Next point wasn't far away, we got into position.  Bird rocketed out of the brush and Doug made a fine shot on a quickly escaping rooster!  Longtime buds...
