I have the same Ron, but Mag B risers. Always was right handed until nerve damage 4 yrs ago. Then went Lefty 2 yrs ago. Tore two tendons in my right shoulder. Mouth tab right handed last year. Surgery in March. Hoping for full lefty again by fall.

The Kodiak takedown is favorite recurve. I've got 3, A riser models with different poundage and limb lengths. 50th anniversary Black maple, African Bubinga and phenolic and a red stripe Rambo edition cause it was released on my birthday. Absolutely love the takedown design.
Some day I'll get a B riser specifically for 3D archery.

Nice collection of wood risers. I wasn't shooting mine as much as my Mag riser so I passed it on to someone who is. I bought some new #3 limbs and put them on my B Mag riser. It's a perfect combo for me especially since I bought limbs in a realistic weight for this old man. Even made up some X-7 aluminum arrows for indoor target shooting. Still not sure about the new metal risers, colors anyway. The Fred E riser maybe to "modern" for my tastes? I do have my eyes on a wood C riser but that may or may not happen?

Just to keep this thread going. Another pix of my September Bull. Shot using my teeth.

I am shooting normal right handed 40# in the basement while still working my rehab. Everything going exceptionally well. My surgeon can't believe my progress. Should be in the 50# range by spring at this rate.

Weird having to work on my form and release. Thot that would come back naturally. Shooting lefty for two years may have messed up my brain..... or maybe its just old age?

For those who own these and shot others, is the grip low, medium or high? Also is it a fat grip or narrow?
How would the grip compare to a 59r and a Grizzly. 59r is perfect for me, grizzly is too fat.

I want to get my hands on one some day but too expensive to buy just to try

You can get grip for the old risers in low, medium, or high grip. I prefer the medium. The wood risers are all over the place it seems depending on who finished them at the factory.

I wonder why they don't get a CNC machine and offer the same three choices as those old grips.

I also have a "no stripe" that I modified w a file and sandpaper to feel better for me.
I shoot w a straight wrist so overall the feel doesn't matter. Just a personal "carry and feel" issue for me.

Speaking of grips, I have a 50th anniversary model that has a fairly wide/fat medium grip. I like it, except that my hand does tend to slip up into the throat more than I want as I draw the bow. Would like to get the grip area checkered. Anyone know of someone who does this? I'm aware of Sherry Abraham, but am having trouble contacting her. I know Dave Windauer also checkers. Any others?

I have stippled a grip my self. (not on a Bear TD) Not very hard to do. Dremel tool and a small ball bit. Way cheaper than having someone checker. You can also use the self stick bandage wrap.

I hear lots of people in my business tell me how they had to switch to a crossbow because they had a soar shoulder or they stubbed there toe or something...You deserve a big high five for shooting a recurve with your teeth! Bravo

Yeah that's Damn impressive, killing a moose with the Kodiak takedown, and using your teeth.
That's a different type of dedication right there!

Coolest thing I've taken is a bobcat last year with my Bubinga Kodiak takedown. Hopefully have an impala or wildebeest with it this July from South Africa.

Took the Kodiak takedown out only a couple times this season. It's mainly been a Sarrels longbow year for me. Let the Bear eat yesterday morning. Love the way this compact recurve handles.
