I learned from reading this thread it is possible to get lucky and buy limbs that missed the buyer's poundage and save some build time. If they have such limbs they can do a "riser only" build in 4 months. I called. Close but no cigar.  One pair was 2" longer and the just right length pair was a little hot for me (3#'s heavy).

Looks I'll have two reasons to look forward to celebrate around Easter time.

Yes Felix I know them both ,but know Fred the best . Good luck in November  :)

And the thread that will not die, alot of great info in this thread for Silvertip cult members.

I can now confess:

I've never owned a 3 piece TD longbow, always preferring the 2 piece designs. After much time and consideration...not to mention looking at a truckload of various 3 pc longbows...I'm awaiting delivery on a sparkling new Silvertip TD Longbow. I've had this one on the drawing board for nearly 2 years, and I'm looking forward to seeing it in my hands.

New Silvertips are FUN!!   :bigsmyl:    :bigsmyl:

I checked in with the Windauers about a week and a hakf ago to see if they had any lefties in stock that needed a good home. They just happened to have a slightly used set of limbs that were to my specs exactly (52@28). Beth said they were just getting ready to build a new riser to go with them so they could sell it.

I must be living right....one quick phone call to Beth sealed the deal. Dave was going to start my riser last week, and I should have it within the next 2 or 3 weeks!

I feel like I hit the lotto!   :archer:    :jumper:    :jumper:

Good for you Allen, you should go by a lotto ticket!!

And what will the woods be?? Checkered grip, of course?

My new limbs are due in a month or so, I can't wait   :goldtooth:

I agree with Mike , theres something not quite right here?   :dunno:   Lets lynch him with a bowstring and Mike can have  his Silvertip !  :thumbsup:LOL

Kevin Dill

Mike...

Hints are always fun! Start with some of the finest riser wood stock I've seen. Next, bring on the most unique limb veneers I've seen in a lifetime of custom bows. Add just the right kind of carving for a true hunting bow. Finish it with plenty of beautiful bone.

I hope it all comes together as nicely as my mind has it pictured...I will be more than pleased!

You guys make me laugh!   :)

Nothing like having a good bow in the pipeline, is there? The name of this game is called...

"What can I do to top THAT?"

They're all such good and sweet bows, it's just fun to mentally craft a new one. I get a rush out of picking woods and evaluating the possible combinations. I was in no hurry on this bow, and the Windauers were more than willing to really stretch for me this time. I even named this bow; something I only do for certain bows which inspire me.

Felix...I could waste your time trying to describe the bow, but then it might not turn out just like I envision. You've been such a good friend, and inspired me many times...here's a promise: When the bow arrives I will grace YOU with the first images of it. I'll make them detailed shots and you can critique it for me. Hold nothing back and tell me what you think. Deal?

OK Kevin, but I want to give you a preview:B&W the name of 2 coming my way!??

Cool thread!  I joined the club a few weeks ago when this one showed up in the classifieds.  Now I know what all the fuss is about!  62" cocobolo with ebony stripe and zebra limb veneers.  Checkered grip, antler knobs, overlay, and tips.  Great shooting bow.

A.S.

Kevin, it sounds like your new 'Tip will be something special...especially if it's anything like some of your others that I have seen!

The limbs that I'm getting are Zebrawood with sheep horn tips. Below is a pic that Beth had posted in the classifieds a while back.

I have always wanted a charcoal dymondwood riser, so I'm going with that and doing the riser stripe in walnut dymondwood.

Checkered grip is a given...   :saywhat:

I still feel a little guilty for getting it this quickly....just a little...   :jumper:

Felix, I look forward to seeing your new "Twins"...as usualy.

Kevin Dill

Felix...

I heard just a little about your bows, I think. I'm happy for you again. I'm really looking forward to seeing some pictures and learning about them.

Allen, I wouldn't feel a tiny bit guilty in your shoes! I once bought a Robertson bow that way many, many years back. I liked it so much that I still have it and still hunt with it. You just never know when luck is going to fall in your lap.

CDR

Gonna be a beauty Allen   :notworthy:
