Just bought a mint RER Vital. Need help identifying woods.

100% wenge for the riser. Limbs most likely tamo ash.  Could possibly be some nice sapele.

Those are scary looking risers.    Wenge is very stiff , very brittle wood. But it splits easily if not reinforced or used with a footing.

Hopefully they are low draw weight... Who built those?

I've heard the same Kirk.

I also know a bowyer, from 20 years ago that used wenge as his cores as he claimed they were the fastest core he ever used.  Don' know if that is true or not, but he sure believed it.  I believe wenge is also referred to at 'black palm'.

  Those two bows are early Wing (White Wings) and that Wenge I recently sold to a good friend and he "Thinks " he has first dibs on the other one but he doesn't 
  Both are in the mid 30# weight range and shoot so smooth .

  Funny you should say that about Wenge being referred to as Black Palm .
I had some scrap pieces of wood that came from the PRS guitar shop from his shop here in Md. that was going into a burn pile from one of his employees .
  It had Black Palm written on it and I said No. that's Wenge wood which I do believe is the same wood or very much alike in grain structure.
  I'm with Kirk also I think it needs an I beam or glued up with something else so it doesn't get checks or cracks .
  I do love the looks and color or it when sistered up with a lighter wood .

Well, I'd say that's a pretty nice stable of RERs.
Bottom-Top: Retro (wenge and tiger wood), LXR (Ziricote and brown glass), Vital (wenge and most likely tamo ash).

The new Vital is a thumper. 52#28" and I draw about 29". Good stuff!
